PCC Pic's

Kasia got some PCC tickets from a co-worker and so off we went to the Polynesain Cultural Center, which is right next to BYUH campus. 70% of the employs are students at BYUH. The marjority of the earning of PCC go twards scholarships for students at BYUH. Itsn't that the coolest thing?






There are boat rides on the man made river. It was great to see this white guy speaking Japanese to his tour group.

First stop.

Kasia learns to make fire using to pieces of wood.

Then this very humourus man made fire for us on stage, he also shreded a coconut and made milk.


Then this other guy demonstrated climbing a tree for us.

His feet are actually tied together. They say its a full body work out. :) The anouncer said he would go up this tree and then jump to the next one about 12 ft away. The announcer was like "Do you want to see it!" and everyone was like "Yes!" and then the guy on the tree said we were crazy.

Obviously he didn't see this sign clearly stating that they don't want the trees climbed on.

We made fish!

There so cute! We made about 6 of them and now there in a vase in my room.
It was cool to have them teach us this but Kasia and I are greatful that we were able to talk to that guy who was braiding the basket out of palm leaves (earlier post). That was not a rehearsed show and it was so much more real.

This is the boat show, all the islands represented at PCC have there own boat and do a dance from there islands. This is Hawaii.

Aotearoa, or New Zealand. Have you ever seen the Hakka? Holy cow go to youtube type in "Haka - Maori dance" You will expierance fear to your very core! (Not to mention there leader is hot : ) They originaly did the dance to pump them up for war. Sticking your tounge out is a sign of defiance. Now they do it before Rugby (Not soccor... my bad ; ) games.

The beautiful Islands of New Zealand, with the beautiful Zandria.

She liked our fish. The first time I met Zandria was in math class were she introduced herself and said that she was from the beautiful islands of New Zealand and she didn't want you to forget her because she sucks and math and would defianatly need your help sometime this semester. Z rocks! Shes way real, she is herself and we all love to hear her talk!

Ha! One time Kasia asked her (while pointing at a braod leafed tree) "Hey is that a bannana tree?" and Z was like "No, thats a chicken wing."

This New Zealand boat was carved from a single trunk. They have trees in New Zealand similar to those in the Red Woods in CA.

All there carving represent things. They have a great love for there ansestors, Z says its because without them they would be nothing. Z's mom knows here genology back to Adam and Eve! No kidding. Most Mouries used to memorize there family lines at least 50 lines back.

Off to Tonga!

Kaj is so photogenic. among other things.

In Hawaii you say "Aloha" nice and loud back to anyone who says Aloha to you. In every island country it is this way, exept they say Aloha in there on language. When you say "Aloha" back to a Tongan it is NEVER loud enough.

There drums were awsome. It was funny but Kaj, Gramps and me were just walking around and we happened to ketch all the best shows... amazing how things just work out.

In Tahitti they got us to wave. All the shows are about crowed interaction

Its my belief that Elvis is still alive... in all the hearts of the people who just wont let him die.

Ah, no way! He really is alive! (ps this is an Elvis impersonator named Kasia and she can be sceduled for a weekend show through her manager who's number is 555- as if : )

Kids, don't try this at home. This is a very low intensity flame... so its alright that they sit on it and put it on there feet and touch there tongue to it. Ikes.
